Hey everybody! I hope you had a great St. Patty’s weekend! I hope you didn’t forget about us, there are still things happening in the club:
This Week: Canning in Center City to raise money for Relay for Life. If you can’t make it to relay, this is a great way to contribute! Also, it’s pretty fun. All the officers will be there!
Next Week: March 30th 8PM, Relay for Life! This is a campus- wide event so don’t miss out!
April Events
4/3 – End of Semester Meeting + Officer Elections! Its your chance to vote for next year’s officers.

The Mad Ones: Teaser from Liam Gallagher on Vimeo.
Take a break from midterms/Mardi Gras fun and check out the teaser for The Mad Ones. It’s a video project by Liam Gallagher, and it’s got a solid line up – featuring Forest Bailey, Forrest Burki, Patrick McCarthy, Shaun McKay, Wyatt Stasinos, Nick Russell, Scotty Wittlake, Bryan Fox, Austin Smith, Curtis Ciszek, Keegan Valaika, Mark Landvik, Blair Habenicht, Lucas Debari, Matt Edgers, Kael Martin and many more. Enjoy!
Burton has teamed up with Star Wars and Lucasfilms to create the ultimate beginner park for young riders at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. These kids will be immersed in the galaxy far far away while learning new things in a safe and fun environment. The concept is pretty awesome, and will definitely be drawing in their target market of 3-6 year olds. Even if you aren’t into the whole Star Wars thing, the way they created the park just speaks for itself. All the wood figure carvings were hand made by a chainsaw sculptor who used downed trees instead of chopping down new ones. Everything was created by using scraps or other items that had previous use, essentially making this a park made entirely from recycled products.
Now my only question is where can I get that awesome R2D2 helmet??
Stowe is snowy and well groomed from the looks of it. Check out this little park edit and get hyped – we leave in just over two weeks! Plus there’s a rumor going around that this hotel we’re staying in has like an 80 person hot tub or something…
Election season is upon us again, and we don’t know about you, but these political campaigns are getting us all riled up. The Temple University Snowboarding Club is formally announcing its own campaign focused on the issue that matters: Snowboarding.
Running on the platform of shred, TUSC is looking to get America gnarly again and we want your input and support.
(ok, really we just want to see your awesome ideas and designs)
So now that you’ve got the idea, start thinking up some creative slogans and/or logos for a TUSC ’12 campaign. Post your ideas to our Facebook profile picture (click the image above), and we’ll vote on the best one. You’ve got a month, so get crackin’!
The winner will get their logo or design made into the 2011-12 TUSC club shirt and a bunch of bumper stickers as well as get some swag– gift card/shirts/etc.
Need some ideas?
Rip off some campaign slogans from current candidates, pull some old fliers, get creative with it!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or in a hole, or somewhere without internet access, you know how super awesome the Red Bull Supernatural event held at Baldface Lodge in BC was.
In case you really have no clue what I’m talking about, here’s Red Bull’s description of what went down:
“Red Bull Supernatural will take place in the 32,000 acres of Baldface Lodge, one of Canada’s top backcountry snowcat operations. Deep in the Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia, the 45+ degree slope known as ‘Scary Cherry’ will host over 80 man-made features which took a crew of loggers five months to construct.
Judges will base scores on overall impression, and hope to see lines that contend with even the best video parts, which Rice calls, “the control by which the state of snowboarding and progression is compared from year to year.”
I don’t know about you, but the March 31st air date on NBC seems far as shit, so here’s a teaser released yesterday of what’s to come.
While the club may not have any day trips planned, we may be able to help you plan your own. We’ve created a Google Doc Spreadsheet so you and fellow members can sign up to be a driver, or a passenger, and you can organize your own trip. This will make it much easier to communicate with other members to see who can drive and who wants to ride, which mountain they want to go to, and what day works best. We will also be posting a sign-up sheet for day trips outside the office, so look out for that within the next week.
Here is the link to the spreadsheet, sign-up and start planning!

It opened just about 2 weeks ago, and I’m still in awe of just how rad the Seven Springs “Streets” park is. Check the video from Transworld, and if you haven’t thought about making the drive before, I’m sure you will now.
“Seven Springs just opened The Streets, their urban inspired terrain park, so they invited Forum Riders Pat Moore, Nic Sauvé, Niko Cioffi , Mario Kapelli, Austen Sweetin, Stevie Bell and Cam Pierce to test out their new creation.
The Streets, terrain park was created with the help from Forum and SPT and is found just off The Polar Bear Express Chairlift at Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania. For more information http://www.thestreetspark.com/”

We’re looking to take a trip out during spring break, so if you’re interested hit us up! We’ve got a handful of vouchers, first come first serve.
Airblaster put together a nice little Wild Wednesday video. Kinda weird – but who cares? Happy hump day…enjoy!
STAY WILD WEDNESDAYS-Episode 3 from Airblaster on Vimeo.
Hiiiiii guys. I hope your spring classes are going well.
If you don’t already know, we always go on a Spring Break trip to Stowe, Vermont the first weekend of the break. This trip is probably one of my favorites. Spring riding is awesome. The weather is sunny, the snow is good, and you’re with the tusc fam… hence a GOOD time.
Okay, well that means you need a new board….? (Sorry it’s a men’s board) 2012 Rome Garage Rocker 156. It is BRAND NEW. The board is $300 retail, but is being sold for $200. email me if you are interested! [email protected]

The Nike Chosen contest was huge to say the least.
It went international as you can see, and not just by one or two groups, it seemed like a majority.
Creative crews, creative filming, creative tricks just brought this thing together and showed who stood at the top.
Great re-cap besides the narrator, he’s a little wonky don’t you think?
Hello Hello,

If you are new to the club this year, you probably don’t know that TUSC annually participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Every year, we are one of the top three fundraisers – and we want to continue that tradition. Two years ago, we were first place. Yeah, we’re pretty awesome. The actual event is on Friday, March 30th from 8pm to 8am. Every student organization on campus participates in this event. It is held at the student pavillion. We stay there all night hanging out, playing games, and relaying. We’re all going to be there… so don’t miss out. If you want to attend the relay, you have to register online.
How to get involved!
1. Go onto the website. Click Here
2. In the “DONATE” box, check “Support a team” and type in “Temple University Snowboarding Club”
3. Click on our club.
4. Click on the purple link labeled “JOIN OUR TEAM”
5. Fill out the information
6. Email the link to all of your friends and family to get donations.
TUSC is obviously the best club on campus. Lets prove that by getting 1st place again!
* Previous years, we went canning for change in center city during rush hour and it was a huge success! We will probably do it again this year so keep your eyes open for that facebook event. Two years ago, Meg Barrett even got Bradley Cooper to donated $20.
The lack of snow and cold weather has not made this year’s east coast winter very ideal for many skiers and snowboarders. Fortunately, TUSC was around to change that, at least for a day.
After months of planning with sponsors Big Boulder and Subaru, TUSC was able to create a terrain park right in the middle of Temple’s campus. With the help from Big Boulder and club members, an 8-foot scaffold was built and two truck loads of snow from nearby ice rinks were brought in and shoveled onto an empty space next to the Bell Tower. After shoveling for what seemed like forever, two rails were set up to create the TUSC Bell Tower Rail Jam. It was a long and tiring night of making the perfect set-up, but the final outcome was well worth it.
On the afternoon of January 19, 25 skiers and snowboarders from the club and Big Boulder came out to the event to show off their talent. Bystanders crowded around to check out all the action and the sponsors which included: Subaru Big Boulder PARK, Red Bull, Vita Coco, Salmon, Bonfire, Neff, Skullcandy, Community Bikes and Boards, and Dinosaurs Will Die.
The day was filled with some great riding from everyone, but with any competition, there had to be a winner. For the guys Chris Fredette took 1st (& a new 155 Dinosaurs Will Die Rat Rocker), Adam Scheutt in 2nd, and Alex Duncan in 3rd. All of the ladies showed off some awesome tricks making it a hard decision for judges, but after some contemplation Tara Emerson came in 1st, Jenn Kurman in 2nd, and Rachel Kerr in 3rd. Dom Luza walked away with Best Trick.
Big thanks to all the members and sponsors who helped us out, the event would not have been possible without all of you!

Check out some more photos here:
If you’ve got any, we want to see them! Send ‘em our way.
And thanks to the Daily News for the awesome write up! Read it here.

We’re getting a bus courtesy of the wonderful Red Bull to go up to Red Bull Butter Cup in Easton!
Who wants to go? The bus leaves the belltower at 12:00 on February 11th (it’s a Saturday) and then comes back at midnight or whenever the general consensus wants to leave.
Who’s in with us? More info here– FACEBOOK
1. 3rd Somewhat Annual TUSC Bell Tower Rail Jam - Thanks to some awesome sponsors (Subaru, Big Boulder PARK, Skullcandy, Neff, Salomon/Bonfire, Banchi Outdoor Adventures, Vita Coco, Dinosaurs Will Die, Community Boards & Bikes) & Temple University, we will be throwing down again this year at the Bell Tower on January 19th. And first place gets a brand new Dinosaurs Will Die deck! Email us if you want to ride or help set up. [email protected]
2. TUSC Invades Quebexico: Part II – We’re leaving for Mont Tremblant Sunday morning, and I’ve literally been waiting all year for this. It’s going to be cold and they’ve been getting snow for weeks so bring your long johns, you’ll need ‘em.
3. College Week at JFBB – Tomorrow is the last day, so if you haven’t gone this week, GO! Yesterday the Salomon/Bonfire team was visiting for the ‘Team Vacation’ Tour so the set up is perfect. $25 day passes; $15 Boulder passes; & drink specials– what more could you ask for?
4. Erica Kim finally turns 21 – Also tomorrow. Wish her a happy birthday and buy her a fancy drink, she deserves it. Happy birthday Miss Kim.
5. February 29th – Yes, 2012 is a leap year, which means we have an extra day to do whatever we want! That is how it works, right? Either way, it means there are 366 days this year and that definitely rules way more than having 365 days.
6. Shawn White’s home collection hits a Target near you! – You’ve definitely all been waiting for it, now you can ditch those dino sheets for a bedspread that’ll make you flip! …get it?
7. NEW VIDEOS – it’s only the first week in January and I’m already watching teasers for some of sick videos expected to come out this year. Community from MEGA & Hot F’n Lava will be out this fall and looks soo sick. Also, keep an eye for a Dinosaurs Will Die team video– I expect great things, I mean they have a teaser for the teaser!
8. SPRING BREAK!!! – We’re going to Stowe. You should too. More info to come in January/February. SAVE THOSE PENNIES (should be around $250).
Bet you can’t wait for Canada eh?
Check out the first edit of the season from Big Boulder! Wednesdays are college nights at Boulder so be sure to go pick up a lift ticket for only $15..super cheap!
Sweet Nothings. from big boulder PARK on Vimeo.
As most of you probably know by now, BigBoulderPARK opened up today for their first day of the season, and dang was a good one. Mr. Rutledge and I made the journey this morning and ripped some turns on Freedom all afternoon. If you didn’t make it out, no worries– the crew will be blasting the hill in the mouth from here on out.
And next time you find yourself at Boulder with some chilly fingers, get yourself a pair of these super dope Celtek/BBP collab gloves– they rule.
One last thing, JFBB is gettin down with giving out again this year, and you should too. Click here for some more info on Big Boulder Gives Back.
See you sons of guns soon.
Much love,
TUSC
This vid rules. Stop studying and watch it.

Killington was awesome. We made a lot of new friends, experienced new things (like the fireball), learned new games, overall it was just an amazing time. For those of you who didn’t come to Killington, you missed out – BIG TIME. But don’t worry, Killington is a mini-preview of what Canada is like. We’ll be in the office today until 5. Hurry and get a seat for Canada!
Yup Killington was great, but my body couldn’t handle it. On Monday, I was sick in bed all day :[ But FedEX was on point with my NEW snowboard. Salomon's new OH YEAH! is a sick board PLUS it is prettyyyyyy :] Now I just need new bindings….

We are in the office from 10am -1pm. Come Hang.
Although the Killington trip is full, you can still sign up for Canada! Also, if you didn’t bring in your Gertrude Hawk paper packets, GET ON THAT. I am putting in last minute orders TODAY!
Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Check out these bros:
This week, the Frends Crew welcomed their newest member, Eric Jackson. Jackson joins Mason Aguirre, Scotty Lago, Danny Davis, Kevin Pearce, Mikkel Bang, Keir Dillon, Jack and Luke Mitrani, and we’re sure he’s is going to make an awesome addition to the crew. It looks like he had to go through some pretty serious hazing in order to be considered a ‘Frend’, but I really wouldn’t expect anything less from that group of guys….they’re crazy and obviously like to have a good time. Check out the video, and seriously think about the consequences you will face if you want to join a snowboard crew, hopefully it won’t be as extreme. Enjoy the vid, enjoy your weekend!
Yobeat recently posted an article all about snowboarding in PA. They have blurbs on Boulder, Bear Creek, Seven Springs, Roundtop, and Tussey. Check out the article here – it will make you giggle. Here’s what they have to say about Big Boulder – pretty on point:
“Boulder has really stepped their game up in recent years. The mountain boasts seven parks: Freedom (hot lap rail park, look for a rhythm section to the right in the woods), Tannenbaum (beginner park, box heaven), Love Park (medium size jumps and rails), DC Central Park (Various DC-branded rails and wallrides), Boulder Park (40-70 foot jumps with some rails and/or a hip), Snowdrift (wood rails and a rail-filled minipipe) and the Plaza (hikeable rail park right after Boulder Park). They also build a really fun late-season park on Bunny’s Elbow (HINT HINT Boulder – make this a park all year long). And there’s a miniramp on the deck of the Red Bull lodge overlooking the Plaza if you want to skate and scene out.
Boulder caters the entire resort to snowboarding, and it shows. The majority of the crowd is snowboarders, and there aren’t really any ski patrollers around to bother you. The downside of that — if you go off a jump in Love Park, there’s a pretty good chance you will land on a small child as their jabrony dad in his Giant’s Starter jacket yells at you. Boulder outdoes itself every year with new rails, new park layouts, a hard-working park crew, and the best event this side of the Mississippi, MayDay (Full park run, with lift, first Saturday of May). And being just under 2 hours from Philly, there’s lots of stuff to do once you leave the mountain. Come here to get loose in the backwoods with your derelict friends.”
By the way, Killington sign-ups are almost full! We only had around 5 spots left this afternoon, so come by the office and sign up before it’s too late.
The paper packets for the Gertrude Hawk Fundraising are DUE THIS FRIDAY! Make sure you get them here! If no one is in the office, slide them under the door.
The online orders are DUE NEXT FRIDAY: Nov. 25th! (that is if you want it shipped for FREE to the office.)
If you don’t mind paying for shipping, the online order officially CLOSE on Friday, Dec. 2nd!
You have 4 DAYS (for paper packets), 11 DAYS (for online orders w/ Free shipping), and 18 DAYS (for online orders w/ self-funded shipping). You still have time. Keep Hustlin.
Love,
TUSC
The snowboard/ski season on the west coast is in full effect, with more and more resorts opening every day…which makes for some pretty jealous east coasters. Since most of us don’t have the time or money to venture up to Vermont for some early season riding, I guess watching opening day edits will have to suffice. The good news is that we’ll be able to enjoy an opening day in PA in about a month or so, just keep thinking snow!
Check out Bear Mountain’s opening day edit…it’s a fun one.
Monday Mallet, Wipeout Wednesday – same thing. This one looks like it hurt real bad.
PS: Check your email! We just sent out trip reminders, a fundraising date change (Gertrude Hawk online sales now due 12/2), and Killington / Canada mandatory meeting dates! Killington is in a few weeks – stop by the office or email us to let us know who you’d like to room with. If you don’t know anyone, no worries. We’ll put you in a room with some cool people. Get hyped!
This one’s coming from all the way up in Canada, where we’ll be in 2 months. #hype
Make sure you boys and girls come out to the Art of Flight premier tonight, we’re going to be raffling off a free trip to Killington, but that shouldn’t be the reason why you’d come out right!?
You’ve been dying to hang out with us cool cats and whoa(!) you’ve always been trying to catch a glimpse of the Art of Flight flick! What better way to do it! Kill two birds with one stone!
See you ladies and gentleman tonight at 6:30 all the way down in the underground (the basement of the student center where the Reel is).
